Coach Ted Kimmey
BIO ( From Brevard Sports Network Article): BSN BREAKING COACHING NEWS: COCOA BEACH JR/SR HIGH NAMES TED KIMMEY AS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High Principal Tim Powers has notified BSN that Ted Kimmey has been named the Minutemen’s new head football coach.
Kimmey was named as the school’s athletic director back in July and the move made perfect sense said Principal Powers.
In a statement to BSN Principal Powers said, “The decision to ask coach Kimmey wasn’t a hard one. Coach Kimmey has been one of the most successful football coaches in the county for nearly a decade and his ability to lead student athletes on and off the gridiron and prepare them for the future is unmatched.”
“We here at Cocoa Beach Jr/ Sr High couldn’t be more thrilled that he will now lead the football program as well as already leading our athletic department.”
Kimmey was head coach at Satellite high from 2016 until he stepped down for family reasons in January of 2022.
As head football coach at Satellite, Kimmey led the Scorpions to some of their best seasons ever on the football field as he posted a 36-16 record. Satellite won two Bowl Games and he reached the FHSAA regional finals in his last season as head coach.
Kimmey was an assistant coach and then an offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach at Satellite high in 2016.
However, taking over the football program at CCB is a full circle move for coach Kimmey. He began his high school football coaching career in Brevard County as an assistant at Cocoa Beach under then head coach David Lowe.
Kimmey will build a winner at Cocoa Beach on the gridiron, his track record says he will but he will also ensure his players are actively involved in the Cocoa Beach community right from the start.
Kimmey believes in the community and as a head coach always had his student athletes in the community making sure they helped where they could and that they were positive role models to everyone.
When he took over as athletic director last summer he spoke on just that topic in his statement to BSN.
“We will build upon our current foundations – programs our school and community can be proud of. Programs that generate immense support, momentum and participation from our community and student body.”
As for becoming head football coach Kimmey said in a statement to BSN today, “My first job in this county was with Coach Lowe at Cocoa Beach, and now here we are.”
“It has truly come full circle. To say I’m excited to be back on the sidelines is an understatement. What excites me more is what’s already in place here at The Beach – the school, the administration, the student-athletes and the community support.”
“I can’t thank Principal Powers enough for entrusting me with this opportunity, I won’t let him or this community down. We will strive every day to accomplish the impossible and build a program that this community can be proud of! Go Beach!”
